A Visionary with Practical Wisdom

The Founder of Modern Pranic Healing

Maha Atma Choa Kok Sui was born on 15 August 1952 in Cebu, Philippines. Trained as a chemical engineer and active in business, he brought a practical, disciplined and investigative mind to the study of energy, healing and spiritual development.

He did not present Pranic Healing as something created from nothing. The understanding of prana, chi, life force, chakras, meditation, cleansing, spiritual development and energy-based healing existed long before him in many ancient traditions. His contribution was to study, research, test, organise and systematise these streams of knowledge into a clear modern method that could be learned, practised and taught step by step.

Through many years of investigation, Maha Atma Choa Kok Sui drew from older healing and spiritual traditions, including Eastern energy systems, yogic knowledge, Buddhist and Taoist influences, Theosophy and other esoteric sciences. Public Pranic Healing sources describe his work as a process of compiling, synthesising, experimenting, validating, formulating and systematising knowledge from different traditions into what became Modern Pranic Healing and Arhatic Yoga.

This is why Pranic Healing is often described as both a science and an art. It is an art because it requires sensitivity, compassion, correct application and the ability to respond to the condition of the person being helped. It is a science because its methods are taught through observation, repetition, clear procedures, testing and practical results rather than blind belief.

Maha Atma Choa Kok Sui encouraged students to use discernment, intelligent evaluation and direct experience. His work made subtle energy principles more accessible to people from many backgrounds and gave modern students a structured path through which healing, spiritual growth and service could be practised with greater clarity and responsibility.

He was also a prolific author and international teacher whose books and courses helped spread Modern Pranic Healing across many countries. His first major work, originally published as The Ancient Science and Art of Pranic Healing and later known as Miracles Through Pranic Healing, became one of the key texts through which many students were introduced to the system.

For PEH Africa, Maha Atma Choa Kok Sui is honoured as the founder of Modern Pranic Healing and Arhatic Yoga, and as a spiritual teacher whose work continues to inspire healing, education and service. Our school carries this stream forward through the lineage of Ma Charlotte Anderson and The Institute for Inner Sciences, where the teachings are shared under the name Pranic Energy Healing.

His Life's Work

Making Ancient Wisdom Practical for Modern Students

Maha Atma Choa Kok Sui dedicated his life to studying, testing and organising ancient knowledge into a clear system of healing, self-development and spiritual practice. His work did not claim that prana, chi, chakras, meditation or energy healing began with him. These principles existed long before him in many ancient traditions. His contribution was to bring them together, examine them carefully and present them in a modern, structured and teachable form.

Researcher of the Inner Sciences

With the precision of a chemical engineer and the dedication of a spiritual practitioner, Maha Atma Choa Kok Sui studied different systems of healing, meditation and inner development. He approached subtle energy through observation, experimentation and practical application, encouraging students to test, evaluate and understand rather than accept blindly.

Founder of Modern Pranic Healing

Maha Atma Choa Kok Sui is honoured as the founder of Modern Pranic Healing. He organised ancient understandings of prana, life force, chakras, cleansing and energy transfer into a clear method that could be learned, practised and taught step by step. In this way, he transformed scattered and often hidden knowledge into a practical science and art of healing.

Author and Spiritual Teacher

He was a prolific author and international teacher whose writings and courses helped make subtle energy principles more accessible to students around the world. PEH Africa honours his contribution while presenting its own educational materials through the lineage of Ma Charlotte Anderson and The Institute for Inner Sciences.

A Path of Healing and Service

His work was never limited to technique alone. Modern Pranic Healing and Arhatic Yoga were also presented as paths of purification, character development, meditation and service. For PEH Africa, this remains central: healing must be practised with discipline, humility, responsibility and the sincere intention to uplift individuals, families and communities.

Significance

Why His Lineage Matters

Maha Atma Choa Kok Sui taught spirituality in a way that could be practised, observed and applied. He encouraged students to use discernment, direct experience and intelligent evaluation rather than blind belief.

Clear Methodology

One of his great contributions was structure. He organised energy principles into clear methods, protocols and steps, making it easier for students to learn, practise and develop confidence through repetition and experience.

Holistic Healing

His work recognised that human wellbeing is not only physical. Energy, emotions, thoughts, habits, character and spiritual alignment all influence the way a person lives, heals and serves.

Global Service

The teachings he organised have reached students and communities across the world, inspiring healing, meditation, personal transformation and acts of service. For PEH Africa, this lineage matters because it gives us a practical way to bring healing education into real communities with care and responsibility.
